Are you tired of receiving spam emails in your Gmail inbox and deleting them? Not only is it annoying and time-consuming, but it also adds to the huge lack of security of personal information in the process since we often use our primary email address to sign into various uncertain websites and mobile applications.
But, what if there were a single-use or a limited-use email address that is designed to particularly eliminate spam mail?
The idea is to create an email address that is temporary in nature and can be used in cases where we need to communicate, sign up, or log in by protecting our privacy and security of the actual email and its contents. The result is, that our actual email will remain free of spam messages and will be less exposed to an unsecured environment. The concept is not only promising but also totally in line with Google's repeated efforts to handle security issues and ensure the best customer experience by launching regular updates across all its applications.
Even though the steps for implementing the same are not yet clear, because it is still in the process, users may assume that once they use the temporary email to sign up, all communication or emails sent to this temporary address will be automatically forwarded to the actual Gmail inbox, without the spams or unsolicited email senders knowing anything about it. Thus, the "Shielded Emails", as it is called, may be a free feature or may need a subscription, similar to the iCloud feature of Apple.
What are the concerns?
- In case it is free, how many "Shielded Emails" can one user generate?
- What about the domain name? `Will it be the same as the Gmail domain or anything quite different from it?
- Will this new feature be able to fight the competition like TempMail or similar third-party services, which already offer this facility?
- To what extent will it make user experience better?
- Users can have better security and privacy for their emails.
- The feature can function seamlessly due to the integration of Google's auto-fill service with almost all Android devices and applications.
- If Google chooses to adopt the same domain, it will boost privacy and reduce the risk of data leakage because companies will find it difficult to identify which is genuine and which is a temporary email.
